Applying For a Blue Card
All adults (over 18) in the homestay must hold a current Blue Card in order to host students under 18 (minors)
ESI is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and protective environment for all children in our care. ESI must ensure all children in our care are safe from harm by following the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (Act).
Who is required to obtain and hold a Blue Card?
All host parents and every adult aged 18 or older living in the home must hold a valid Blue Card before hosting an under-18 student. This applies whether they are directly caring for the student or simply living in the household.
Some people do not need a Blue Card—for example, family members under 18, temporary visitors, or relatives caring for their own niece/nephew.
Teachers, police officers and and registered health practitioners need an Exemption Card instead and must still be linked to ESI.
